12 Twists on Instant Hot Chocolate for Your Cosy Night In

Chilly evenings cry out for a warm mug of hot chocolate. It is time to rescue your neglected sachets and jars wedged in the back of the cupboard! Add a bit of flare to your instant hot chocolate and then sit down in front of a cosy fire, and enjoy!

Hot Chocolate

1 – Ice Cream

It may sound weird to put something cold in your hot drink, but a scoop of ice cream can make your hot chocolate creamy and thick. Get your hot chocolate as hot as possible before scooping in some ice cream.

2 – Caramel

Caramel is an autumn and winter favourite, and a table spoon of caramel can add wonders. Spoon in your favourite brand and stir it well, before taking your first sip.

3 –  Cinnamon, Nutmeg or Vanilla

These flavours are usually associated with the Christmas season. So add a ¼ teaspoon of any of these flavours to add a festive punch.

4 – Orange

Carve three 2-inch long strips of orange skin and let them rest in your drink. The citrus flavour will be a delight.

5 – Espresso or Coffee

If you are a caffeine addict, adding espresso or coffee to your drink will be right up your street. Just add a tablespoon of freshly brewed coffee or espresso, or just add some instant!

6 – Peppermint

Drop in a peppermint stick to add a cool minty flavour to your drink. You can even drop in a peppermint sweet or chocolate for a minty kick!

7 – Chocolate Shavings

Get a chocolate bar and grate it on to the top of your hot chocolate. Sprinkling a few shreds can make all the difference to your drink, or on the whipped cream on top of it!

8 – Peanut Butter

If you love peanut butter, take a tablespoon or two and mix it into your drink. Just be sure to use the smooth kind, and mix it until it melts.

9 – Hot Sauce

If you like things spicy, add a small amount of Tabasco or hot sauce to your drink. A dash of this will kick your hot chocolate into high gear.

10 – Hot Cherries

Maraschino cherries are something which the majority of people have lurking in their cupboards. Just drop two or three teaspoons of the juice into your drink, along with a cherry.

11 – Coconut milk

If you don’t want to leave summer behind just yet, substitute some of the milk required with coconut milk, for a tropical twist.

12 – Maple Syrup

Just squirt some maple syrup into your drink, for a quick as easy twist!

There is just something about sitting in front of the fire whilst sipping on a hot chocolate that just screams Christmas. Don’t forget to take a look at our wall mounted fires we have for sale, which will make you feel cosy this festive season.
